Mothers Day Weekend, I hosted my FIRST event! Mamas and Mimosas was a pre Mother’s Day brunch held in Orlando, Fl. I have been prepping and planning this event for months and it STILL exceeded my expectations…I am still on a high 🙇🏽♀️
Over 20 women attended and I am confident they left differently than they came! I won’t spill all the beans- you had to be there for the full experience 😉
With “So blessed” introductions, I was able to share more about my brand. I felt completely blessed in that EXACT moment to be standing in front of these women and sharing my passions and purpose with them. Expect to see more from me, but let me share a little more about what Modern Day Black Mama is!
All my millennials stand up!! Anyone born between 1981 and 1996 (currently ages 22-37) is considered a millennial. Today, millennials are making bold moves like starting businesses, earning multiple degrees, working from home, breastfeeding, working out and more. We’re living our BEST LIVES! It’s not just about us millennials though, families today are just that- modern! They are different then when I was growing up. Just as millennials, families today look different. Kids are being raised by grandparents and extended family, single, same sex, married, divorced, and widowed parents! And you know what- that’s ok!
Most think when I say Black- it only pertains to African American Women. Black is a color, not a race. Black means African American, Latino, Asian, Indian and all other women of any underrepresented group! Hell WOMEN are underrepresented! This is for all of us ✊🏾✊🏻✊✊🏼✊🏽✊🏿
Yes, traditionally I am speaking of “Mother”. But a mother comes in many forms as well. Biological, adopted, foster, auntie-moms, godparents, grandparents! For all those raising dope human beings- Thank you for making Motherhood so DOPE!
It was a breath of fresh air to be able to assemble with other Modern Day Black Mamas and connect over words, food and of course Mimosas 🥂 Here are a few pictures documenting this special time ♥️
I MUST take time today thank everyone who attended. The vibe and connections were so easily and genuinely made (In fact, a few of the ladies hung out together after the event!)
Thank you to my two amazing guest speakers for the Business and Babies edition- Yolande Myers of Dear My Curvy Girl LLC and Rita Crumity of Kids R Us Daycare ♥️ My sponsors for the gift bags- Chelsea S. of Chelsea Speaks/Chelsea’s Treasure Chest, Nicole T. Of The Rebel Tribe, Brandon Washington of Global Impact Marketing group for the Step and Repeat banner, Photographer 📸 Abena B. of Bee Images, and Tijania G. of I am Posh. Candles in the gift bags were purchased from Posh Candles and the Hershey wraps made by Yolande of Dear My Curvy Girl LLC.
