This weekend, my son and I attended a FREE event at our locol library called “Cookies 🍪 and milk with a Cop 👮🏽♀️”. First let me tell you how obsessed my child is with officers and utility vehicles (Police officers and cars, firefighters and fire trucks etc.), so this was a golden opportunity for him to interact with a police officer and for us to get in some reading/library time (double score!)
With all that is going on today and the negative image of Police Officers because of the injustices of minorities, I felt this was important for my son- a black boy to know that all Police Officers are not bad. I do not want him tainted with the image that ALL police officers are out to gun him down. He will know that their primary purpose is to serve and protect. Cookies and milk with a cop is a time for children to interact with local police officers in a fun and informative environment.

I’m sure this event is held in many libraries so check your local library for FREE events like this and more! Mine are held the 3rd Saturday of every month!
